Rich romas from Moldova
This reportage was made as a part of the entry exams to the Academy of Arts of Moldova.
In Moldova there is a small town Soroca. It is situated on the banks of the Dniester river on the border with Ukraine. There live the richest roma community from Europe, who breaks all known stereotypes. They call themselves the most civilized roma people from the world. Despite the fact that this people does not have their own land, they have organized sociopolitical structure lead by the Baron Arthur Cherari, who claims to the title of king of gypsies (elected by ethnic groups from various states). His house is really as huge as a castle. Traditionally, romas leave their houses unfinished to avoid taxes.
It is an interesting journey through the small close community, where you can meet different generations and faces.
