Train Riga - Moscow - Riga
48h on rail roads
A small photo reportage from a round trip from Riga to Moscow.
My first trip on train was 6 years ago, from Moldova to Ural Region, the historical homeland of my father. It was a long trip which lasted 4 days and 3 nights. I was so enthusiastic about living on railroads for a few days and following the changing of the landscape through the window. This time my trip was shorter, but filled with extreme and new friends.
Long roads are a perfect place for meditation. Here you can detach from the daily routine and problems. The train is like a vacuum with no exact place or time. Here you can follow people without any social masks, with no titles, professions or other specific labels inducted by social frames.
In the beginning, I did not have the aim to make a reportage about my trip. Despite, the beauty of human simplicity and naturalness started manifesting, which is hard to capture on streets or other public places. So I wanted to keep this moment of revelation and confession for myself.
Sometimes the cheapest choice is the luckiest one, especially for people who are in search of "unbranded" things. That is why I took the ticket in the general wagon, which feels to be "unfenced" for people. The limit between neighbors is so thin that mostly few hours is enough for visual convergence.
